Let’s Pasta!

so obviously my current addiction is PASTA,a Korean drama..

and Megan and Jeannie was like soooo happy for me to join the K-Drama club..LOL..

(ok i should stop using LOL it’s annoying)

so as i tweeted here, it’s so addictive until i made an Aglio e Olio..

P011210_16.23

of course mine is very unorthodox as i dont have cheese and parsley in my fridge..

so i sauted the garlic with vege oil and added cooked pasta, with chicken stock granule ,white pepper and leftover Domino’s chili flakes for the kick..

YUM^^

oh and it kinda cured my flu with these HOT stuff =_____= (along with warm baths)..

right ‘O, continue my K-Drama now. *wink*

before i continue…..

Thanks to PA, my motivation is lost =_=

anyway, here’s a recipe i got from the net, it works very well and taste so good (to me =D )

its actually sesame chicken but i dont have sesame with me so its just the sauce but hey, its nice ! =D

again, i dont have the picture ‘coz i’ve eaten XD

anyway:

marinade chicken pieces for at least 39 min with:

chicken stock (granulated or thick ones)

pinch of salt

stash of sugar

pepper

sesame oil

prepare batter using:

egg (beaten)

flour and corn starch to thicken

some oil

pinch of salt

water to let it flow if it gets too thick

sauce, the best part:

3 tbsp of honey

2 tbsp of sugar

pinch of salt

2 tbsp of ketchup

1 tbsp of vinegar

(i dont think it needs any water)

SO, just fry the chicken coated with the batter and heat up the sauce and mix!! =D

if i have wine and sesame it would be much batter i guess.

but *that fella* complained of too much flour and made the coating so thick =_=

but i love the coating! *sigh*…..i guess i ‘ll just fry it dry next time Xp

crazy people do crazy thing...

warning: do not try this at all cost.
okay......laugh all you want...

i was super hungry after the previous post, so i headed dwon to try to make something to cure the 'itch' as it was not dinner time yet...

i decided to play with flour as i really wanna keep other materials for later use.

i put 2 tablespoons of flour, a tad bit of corn flour as i love crunchy texture, then pinch of salt and a lil water and oil.

you know what i'm trying to make? - roti canai or some pan heated roti la....=_=''

okay,so i mixed and rolled and all, it was still VERY STICKY...*sigh* what's wrong?
argh i dont care.

so they went into the pan after i stretched it roughly...really, roughly...

and.........

it went hard....*big sweat*...

but as it got brown it smells nice and i tore a bit to try...

and it was.......

=D nice! like crunchy roti canai! *kakakakkakaka!!!*

okay, so i decided to play more.

CURRY it is. but i dont have enough material. how?

right. cut some chicken fingers, fragrant up some packet herbs, then pour in my 'ultimate' mixture:

2 spoons of curry powder, chicken stock, salt

and water to make it like soup first, and i let it simmered...

then i thought, it doesnt seem to be enough...how ah?

tick tock tick tock...

CHILLI SAUCE!!!!!!

pour in a lil...

and the end result? kakakkaa....edible la!!!!

*blehh* i'm that crazy...

when we need porridge...or congee...

*he* was suffering due to the painful mouth and dry lips...i suspect some sort of inflamation and wants to put some 'oral aid' to sooth it.

then, since *he* has no appetite for food, i cooked porridge. (or congee, in malaysian context, the rice one,not the oat one)

so basically, it is one cup of rice with 10 cups of water in the rice cooker.
switch it on and leave it to boil.
after boiling, leave it in 'warm' mode for some time. (as in..30 minutes to one hour?)
then, boil it up again and stir it until the desired texture is achieved.

now,you can put in some salt for taste.
i like to add in chiken stock for more flavour.
of course, since i'm not sick,i love to add minced meat and alot of ground pepper as well as oriental soy sauce in it.

^^

oh and last but not least, my other favourite with porridge...

the 'fu yu', which is the fermented toufu in salty spicy sauce.

HERE'S THE LATEST RECIPE BY MEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

TOM YAM BIHUN!!!!!!!!

nyek nyek nyek...

attractive enough? oh maybe not but the taste is yum!!
so how did i do that?

hm hm....

1. soak your bihun in water (tap, drinking water whatever) until it is soft where it can 'bend' or limpy etc etc.

2. drain the water.

3. make some scrambble egg by stir-frying the beaten egg, as well as sauteeing some meat and vege for the bihun. (do i need to tell you to oil the wok and heat it up first?)

4. now, dilute your tom yam paste (if you happened to have bought tom yam PASTE, which is the very very thick one?) untill it is sauce-like plus a little more water.

5. pour it into the oiled wok, heat it up untill it is fragrant.

6. IT'S TIME to put in your bihun!!!! stir-fry with a pair of CHOPSTICKS please!!!

7. mix all up, or use the eggs and meat and vege as decorative , as you'd like.

*glee*

yummy yum yum!!!~~~~~~

BBQ/Oven toaster/pan-fry series

hey,its semester end(or beginning for some). so,you want to have party or gatherings. then, some says BBQ is the best next to pot luck and eating out(considering the money and the yet-gourmet-chef cooking skills). So, here's some suggestions, which is not the NORMAL fried rice vermicelli or hotdogs you get in NORMAL malaysian parties.(no, its alright, you burnt it ,then so be it.I told you.)

Pita Bread-My pocket meal(5 pax)(pick a method that is convinience to you-BBQ,toast,pan-fry)

Ingredients:

the Pita Bread, preferabily the white ones(the round flat bread available at stores, normally in pack of 5,cut it into halves and you get two pockets each)
1 tomato,sliced
lettuce, well cleaned, left leaves
butter(for toasting and layering)
sauces you like(like...thai chili sauce?)
slices of prepared meat(or you marinate and fry it yourself, buy from jusco market, preferably breast meat of chicken)(oh,you can buy the ready-made,roasted ones^^)

Apparatus:

BBQ grill,oven-toaster,pan,knife

Method:
1. Lay one bread flat infront of you. Cut the bread(circle) into halves (as in half-moon,or parabola)so that it'll make two pockets.
2. Lightly, trail some patterns on the outer layer of the bread with knife(criss-cross, lines, or a love ?whoops..)
3. Layer the inner and outer layer of the pockets with butter, BBQ, or toast, or pan-fry it until it is a little crisp and brownish on edges.
4. Pick the pockets up and let it cool a little before layer it with lettuce.
5. Stuff meats and tomato.
6. Finally, put some of your favourite sauce(not too much!) and eat it!^^

p/s: this is a great recipe for 'cooking out',you can pack it in packets or tupperware and enjoy it during party or picnic too!

alternatively, stir fry beaten egg, hotdog slices and the garlic chilli sauce as the filling, or any flavour of tuna of your choice!
_______________________________________________________________________________

Garlic Bread(A touch of Italian)

Ingredients:(5-6 pax)

A pack of 'hotdog buns'(usually in a pack of 5 or 6), made into thick slices(about 1/2 an inch or 1 inch)

other ingredients:

very finely chopped garlic(or mash it if you like but there would not be much aroma then)
salt
butter(or margarine,if you prefer non-animal fat)
and Italian herbs(optional)

Apparatus:

a frying pan or oven toaster, spatula(for spread and toast)

Method:

Now,the most important is to make the garlic butter. There's no specific regulations on it but generally, it would be good if the garlic and butter's propotion is 1:1. If you like it milder, tone down on the garlic ,then. After that, add a pinch of salt and herbs as you like.

I don't have to tell you to spread it on the bread and toast or pan-fry it, do I?

(Warning! Remember the strong smell of garlic and that bit of tingling sensation if you put TOO much. It'll get burn easily too.)

continuation of the party series

Black pepper fruit salad

No,no and no you did not hear me wrong. It's black pepper. Yes. You won't regret trying it!And it's sooooo easy!!! its like 100% welcomed in almost every party when i made it!

Ingredients:

Blackpepper to taste(those finely chopped ones, available in bottled packaging in stores)
Enough Fruit dressing to be mixed well with other ingredients(it's written on it as that, white and sour just like mayonaisse. It's alright if you want to use mayonaisse but taste may be different)
1 GREEN apple( well cleaned and diced)
a bunch of GREEN grapes(preferabli seedless, well cleaned and halves)

Apparatus:
A couple of large bowls, spatula

Method:

Mix all of it and let it chill in the fridge before you send it into your mouth. Be patient.;)

cheesy 'roti bombay'-crispier!

well, roti bombay was a 'dish' of bread-dip-in-beaten-egg-and-then-fried. it was quite common actually.

Ingredients:(1-3 pax)

two pieces of bread cut into small pieces
two eggs
one teaspoon of butter
herbs
a pinch of salt
a slice of cheese, tore into pieces

oil for frying

Apparatus:
frying pan and spatula

1.First, mix all the ingredients except the breads and oil.Beat.

2.then,dip the bread pieces into the mixture so that it is coated evenly.

3. heat the frying pan layered with oil with medium heat.

4. fry the breads until it is golden brown and crisp! yummy!^^

note: if the cheese does not stick to the bread, you may stick it on the bread befor eletting it down to the frying pan.

-----ENJOY!!!!!^^

*'potty' convinience-using rice cooker*

you like eating home cooked food but you hate those hassle and all the mess doing cooking job..here's another way:
clean rice and add in sufficient water, put aside.
prepare the ingredients you want to put with your rice and you will have a nice meal.
but,to make it special, try these 'cheats'-

tom yam rice-mix instant tom yam paste in,put in tomato, mixed vege(or vege you think is suitable),meats(optional),and voila! ^^ a gourmet dish

tomato rice-cook rice and mixed vege and meat or things you like and stir in tomato sauce after cooked-done!!!(a truly cheat xp)

oriental way-cook rice with chicken or chinese preserved meat, ginger(roughly sliced),garlic(roughly pressed with knife flat). then, prepare special oriental sauce using dark and light soy sauce, and other seasoning. add on the rice when it is done. ;p

create your owns!-

*the oriental way to noodles*

after cooking the noodles(whether it's vermicelli or yellow noodle or mee...),the important part is the sauce/gravy.
the main ingredients are thick soy sauce, light soy sauce, saseme oil,and chicken granules(or chicken stock powder or similar) and any other ingredients that you like and mix til it suits your taste.isn't that easy and fun?! ;p
it where creativity rules!-

*easy pasta*

first on first,to do anything, one must READ LABELS AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS unless one is familiar or well-knowledged on it.the amount of materials are suits to one's heart, one will get to know it when one is familiar.so basically, to cook a delicious pasta is easy.and since i'm in uni,i've learnt to make use of simple materials to start.
1. cooking the pasta:
just boil the water with abit of oil and salt, and chicken/whatever stock if you want, and cook till the pasta is edible in the sense of taste, colour and texture,or follow the package's instructions.[experimental xp]
drain water and stir up a bit of magerine or butter to avoid the pastas stick together or harden.

2. cooking or making the sauce:
the simplest way is to add the mixed vege or meat into the pre-made sauce and heat it up,and voila!
otherwise, one must use tomato puree or milk and cheese to make fresh sauce.
add in italian spices to create the taste[that's the secret!]

milk and cheese: saute[use little amount of oil to stir and heat with] garlic and onion, add in mixed vege and meat or any ingredient prefred, heat and add in milk, let it cook and add in cheese and pasta before thickening it.[stir in a mixture of corn flour and water]

the point is,follow the basic rules-and you'll get it-
